JaS has done some amazing work again!
He just released his 10.4.8 combo updates for Intel/AMD bundled in 4 packages.
- 2 packages for Intel SSE2 only and SSE2/SSE3 users
- 2 packages for AMD SSE2 only and SSE2/SSE3 users
This means you can update from any OS X 10.4.x to the latest JaS 10.4.8.
A full 10.4.8 DVD is to be expected soon… Stay tuned
Download them right here:

Download JaS 10.4.8 Intel SSE2 Combo Update
Download JaS 10.4.8 AMD SSE3 Combo Update
Download JaS 10.4.8 AMD SSE2 Combo Update
Important note for Intel SSE3 users only:
If you get an error where you can’t get past the blue screen, just do this:
Boot with following options: -v -f -s -x then type in
mount -uw /
mv /system/library/exrensions/r2d2.kext /system/library/extensions/
and let it boot up in safe boot
If you got a GMA gfx card:
While in safe boot mode, mount the 10.4.6/10.4.7 JaS install DVD
Run the following package:
/System/Installation/Packages/10.4.7.GMA900.Support.pkg
Run Disk Utility, repair permissions and reboot.
If you run Pro applications:
Open 10.4.7 combo update (from apple)
with pacifist (http://www.charlessoft.com)
Install the iokit.framework
Important note for Myzar DVD users:
You must apply the AMD combo packages only!
Even if you run on intel!

Does this upadte have a new kernel? If so does it have the Apple nVidia kexts ? (and if yes do they work)

No new kernel for now. It is still being dev/modded by semthex, hopefully it could be out very soon. Stay tuned.

I just installed the update and it works perfectly. It only made the battery indicator dissapear.
But I still have a problem: if I try to boot with dual core configuration, either the computer stops even before reaching the blue screen or is boots but behaves weird (animations are faster, keyboard is not sensitive, etc)
Any idea of what’s going on?

hi Dip, I would suggest that you try to download the latest JaS release for Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.4. You can find it by searching this string : “JaS OSx86 10.5.4 Client Server Intel SSE2 SSE3″ on thepiratebay.org. For compatibility check, you should read the HCL : http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.5.2/Portables#Latitude_D610
Good luck and welcome to the OSx86 world.

Thanks for the link.
Last night I was trying to load it… this time..
i tried several parameters such as -v.. then later on.. i remember reading from one article… this guys suggested something like -v -t -f -s <– i just tried it.. for some weird reason it went through! when it reached the welcome screen.. i tried other combinations such as -v -t.. or -v -f or -v -s… i don’t even know what this commands do.. all i know .. -v is like a step by step process loading so you can see where it is having problems.. i am new to all this commands and environment.. i noticed something like this as well.. SSE3 emulator OK! .. anyways.. i got to load leopard successfully… but when it restarted.. it says OS cannot load properly.. i had Windows on the other partition.. i have no idea what to do next.. ill be reading the link you guys provided.. i am currently re-installing Windows XP then later on try again to load leopard
thanks all!
best regards,

Hi Admin,
which one should I download?
download the latest JaS release for Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.4.?
“For compatibility check, you should read the HCL : http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.5.2/Portables#Latitude_D610 ”
As I checked the link[HCL], it’s referring to Kalyway 10.5.1
So which one is the best?
Jas or Kalyway? are they the same?
Thanks !!

I first used Kalyway DVD when I installed Leopard on my hack. Kalyway release is great and the guy was very helpful on IRC, he does great job! On the other hand, JaS is my man since the very beginning of this entire OSx86 community. He can make really good OSx86 DVD !
I would try JaS anyway his last DVD seems very complete.

Hey Dip, I have very similar system, an HP nc6000. the chipset is intel 855GM and the graphics is ATi radeon 9600 mobile. These newer SSE2 leopard distros don’t work as well as they shhould on our laptops. they are designed with newer systems in mind. i have downloaded kalyway 10.5.2 and jas 10.5.4 and neither got functional. the kalyway could load but after doing drivers (which i am not a newbie, i know what i’m doing) it would not boot back. and jas wouldn’t boot after install at all. it’s not a SSE2 issue, it’s a chipset issue. there aren’t any patches for leopard running on these 8-series intel mobile chipsets.
my best install yet came from XxX 10.4.10/11 disc. I use the 8.9.1 kernel, and the no-EFI kexts.

I burned the 10.4.8 jas and it seems to reboot to the main boot screen(i.e. press x to install mac os x)
HOWEVER, if I use VMware workstation, it boots fine. I’ve got to the blue screen so fat as I’m writing this.
Any reasons this would happen?
Thanks.
